Purpose:
Application 1: In the paper industry, modified starch is the main auxiliary material used for surface sizing and coating. It is also used as an internal additive and paperboard interlayer adhesive to increase the strength, smoothness, stiffness, wear resistance, and filler retention of paper, making paper and paperboard have good physical and surface properties.
Application 2: In the textile industry, modified starch is used for warp sizing, printing and dyeing, finishing processing, and non-woven composite products. It can achieve various comprehensive sensations such as smoothness, stiffness, thickness, and fullness, greatly improving the hand feel. Previously, chemical pulp was mainly used for textile sizing, but due to environmental pollution, it was gradually replaced by modified starch.
Application 3: In the food industry, the use of modified starch is becoming increasingly widespread. Currently, there are more than 100 types of edible modified starch used as thickeners, stabilizers, water retaining agents, gelling agents, adhesives, anti sticking agents, polishes, puffing agents, etc., in food processing such as canned food, meat products, dairy products, candies, pastries, instant noodles, seasonings, cold foods, beverages, etc.
Application 4: In the aquatic feed industry, modified starch is mainly used as a feed adhesive for eels, fish, and other feeds, with a dosage of about 25% of the feed. In recent years, the annual consumption of aquatic feed in China has been about 400000 tons, requiring 100000 tons of modified starch pre gelatinized starch, of which about two-thirds rely on imports to solve the problem. The quality of pre gelatinized starch produced from cassava starch is much better than that produced from corn starch, and cassava pre gelatinized starch has strong market competitiveness.
Application 5: In the building materials industry, modified starch is mainly used as an adhesive for non mortar wall structure boards, interior wall decoration adhesives, lightweight ceiling board adhesives, etc. With the rise of new building materials, the application of modified starch in the building materials industry is becoming increasingly widespread. It is expected that by 2010, the domestic use of modified starch in building materials will reach over 100000 tons.
Application 6: In the petroleum industry, modified starch is mainly used as a filtrate reducer, fracturing fluid thickener, demulsifier, etc. It is expected that by 2010, the use of modified starch in the petroleum industry will reach 50000 tons.
Application 7: In the pharmaceutical industry, modified starch can be used as a diluent, absorbent, adhesive, wetting agent, disintegrant, etc. The annual consumption of modified starch for disintegrants alone is 15000 tons, and it is expected to reach 30000 tons by 2010. In addition, modified starch is widely used in clinical medicine.
In addition to the above-mentioned industrial sectors, the use of modified starch in industries such as casting, ceramics, daily chemical industry, and industrial wastewater treatment is also increasing, and the potential market is very large.
